Beach Lifeguard Training Courses
Griffin Marine Services is committed to Water Safety by being a Affiliated Member of the Royal Life Saving Society UK.
We run courses in the last two weeks of April the last two weeks of June and the first two weeks of September.
Courses start 0900 on Mondays through to Friday the weekends are available for additional modules in Malibu boards and Paddle Craft along with AED and O2 courses each additional module is £50 per person.
Courses book up early so to confirm your place please send a 10 % deposit we can cater for a maximum of 24 and offer discounts for groups of 4 or more.
A minimum of four candidates are required for each course. All manuals are included in the course fees.
Griffin Marine Services can supply safety cover for many events ie Long Distance Swimming in open water, we have provided cover for round the Isle of Wight relay record numerous cross Solent Swims also GMTV in preparation for a cross channel swim and many more similar events.
If you require specialist modular training for your organisation please get in touch to discuss your needs if you require us to come to you for setting up a Beach Lifeguard Unit in a Resort or Modular training the daily rate is £200 per day plus expenses .
RLSS UK National Beach Lifeguard Qualification (5 days) £265 per person
Includes training manual £25.00 and exam fee £17.00.
Designed to establish competence for Beach Lifeguards responsible for the safety of those using an open water location for recreational purposes.
A 400 metre swim in under 7.30 is required, fitness is essential to participate in this course. The syllabus covers the criteria as laid down in the joint RoSPA RLSS UK publications Safety on British Beaches and Safety at Inland Water Sites.
Malibu Board rescue module £80 per person
Use of Malibu board for rescue work in open water this course is an addition to your NBLQ qualification.
Paddle Craft rescue module £80 per person
Use of Paddle Craft in rescue work in open water , this course is an addition to your NBLQ
qualification.
RLSS UK Personal Rescue Water Craft Module £ 300 two day course
This course is only open to those who hold the Royal Lifesaving Society UK National Beach Lifeguard Qualification. You must also hold your RYA PWC Proficiency Award.
Subjects Covered:
- Launch and Recovery from Beach
- Riding in Waves/Surf Conditions
- Drop off and Pick ups with lifeguard.
- Rescue Techniques using a sled for conscious and unconscious casualties, multiple rescues . This is the core part of the course and will involve scenarios for you to deal with.
- Equipment required
- Communication VHF and Hand Signals
- Team Work
- Patrols and Zoning
- RWC Maintenance and Engine Trouble Shooting.
RLSS UK Rescue Boat Crew (2 days ) £200 per person
Roles and responsibility of the IRB Crew
Points Covered:
Launch and recovery rescues of craft and casualties , knots , engine and boat maintenance search patterns , communications , first aid afloat sea conditions patrols .
RLSS UK Rescue Helm (2 days £300 ) per person
Roles and responsibility of the IRB Helm
Points Covered:
Launch and recovery , driving techniques in different sea conditions , rescues of craft and casualties , search patterns, patrols , communication afloat , basic fault diagnosis for engines care and maintenance of the craft.
RLSS UK IRB TA Course( 3 days) £350
Minimum of 2 seasons as a qualified RLSS UK IRB Helm .
Point covered:
Teaching methods , course delivery and assessment lesson plans , site risk assessment types of craft ,course registration and forms. Successful candidates will be awarded probationary TA Status they will then be required to teach and assess a course , this can be arranged through Griffin Marine at no extra cost.
Lifeguard Resuscitation Kit (Oxygen )Programme (1 day) £85 per person
This course is available to current RLSS UK Lifeguards Pool or Beach
Attendance certificates will be issued on satisfactory completion of the course.
First Responder (1 day) £45 per person
Training in Extended Life Support Techniques using an AED (Automated Emergency Defibrillator) . Training can be provided in the work place or at our school facilities.
RLSS UK Emergency Response for Outdoor Activity Supervisors (12 hours ) £175 per person
This course has been designed for those supervising Adventure Activities at open water locations ( Ideal for School Teachers). Includes Resuscitation CPR ) First Aid , Aquatic Rescues ,site assessment , emergency action planning and use of appropriate rescue equipment.
HSE FAW Course (One day a week for Four weeks or Four Days) £175 per person
A four day course covering First Aid in the work place covering Resuscitation and CPR. Treatment and control of bleeding , treatment of shock , management of the unconscious casualty , recognition of illness , treatment of minor injuries , burns scalds and poisons. Record keeping , personal hygiene when giving First Aid reference to Hepatitis B and Human Immuno Deficiency Virus , communication and delegation in an emergency.

 Accommodation Lodge sleeps groups of 4 up to 24 from £67.00 for 5 nights per person discount of £2.00 per person if you make your own bed.
The Lodge includes a communal kitchen , barbecue area , TV lounge the accommodation consists of 4 berth rooms twins and doubles. The Lodge is situated on the cliffs above Wight Waters Activity Centre a short 10 minute walk away.
